42 Hours of Stars - A Timelapse Compilation from Karl Muller on Vimeo.
The title says it all - a timelapse compilation of 42 hours of stars and the Milky Way, condensed into 3 and a half minutes. Shot at various locations outside of Brisbane, Australia, and Fiji, the 42 hours represents the actual time spent sitting shooting under the stars, then replayed back at 24 frames per second. The majority of photos were 30 second exposures with a 5 second interval which means it takes 14 minutes of shooting for 1 second of finished footage. Almost 4500 individual shots make up the finished compilation Music by subset.com.au

Selected scenes from these time lapse sequences are available in my Nimia store:

Night sky time lapse 2012 from Karl Muller on Vimeo.
A short movie of night sky time lapse from 2012, shot at locations within a few hours drive/ferry/4WD of Brisbane, Australia. Any light in the sky is either light spill from a nearby city, or the moon, no sunrises or sunsets. All shot on a Canon 7D with various lenses. Music by subset.com.au

Halong Bay, Vietnam - A tour by foot, junk and kayak
from Karl Muller on Vimeo.
In late 2012 I spent three weeks travelling Vietnam. Near the end of the trip I stayed three nights in Halong Bay (or 'Descending Dragon'), and when not shooting stills I took some fairly rough hand-held footage aboard the junk, kayaking through caverns and walking through caves.

This was a very haphazard time lapse. I looked out the window this evening, saw the colour of the sky, threw my dinner away and ran out the door with almost all my gear - left the intervalometer at home in another bag by accident. All filmed on a Canon 7D, with Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM lense. Various shutter speeds as you can see (and that was deliberate).

A 'live' jam on a dub X-Files / Simpsons crossover. The loops were created in Synapse Audio's 'Orion', and triggered inside Ableton Live with various effects via two MIDI controllers - an Evolution UC33 (on the left), and a Behringer BCR2000 (on the right). Audio interface is a MOTU Ultralite mk3. Also pictured but not used is a Korg NanoPad (white controller under the UC33). Shot on a Canon 7D with Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM lense with room lighting, on an old, sand-clogged tripod.

My first time lapse test using the Canon 7D and intervalometer, a total of 285 still images combined into a short movie. A few details: Shutter speed 2 seconds, ISO 200, auto aperture, intervalometer set to 2 seconds. Project frame rate of 24fps, still duration of 3 frames.

I spent a month at an animal refuge in Bolivia called Parque Ambue Ari, walking, feeding and caring for a puma called Carlos. Here Carlos goes for a jump while walking on his long trail, Parque Ambue Ari, Bolivia, Sep 09.
